Area Rugs Make A Come Back

On June 16, 2008 in Home

Only a few people still used rugs in certain parts of the house, most commonly in the kitchen and the bathroom during the early 1960s. Rugs were also common in basement areas or “rec rooms” as family rooms were once called. This was because children often played in these rooms and could not be trusted to keep the wall to wall carpeting free from dirt and stains.

Today, although many people still have wall to wall carpeting, it does not enjoy the popularity it once did. Many people who have older homes prefer removing their ubiquitous wall to wall carpeting and exposing the beautiful hardwood floors that lay hidden beneath. They have discovered the beauty and functionality of area rugs that can be placed anywhere they feel like without hiding the often beautiful original flooring. When it comes to carpeting and rugs, things have certainly come full circle.
