Diabetes Medical Supplies

On July 02, 2008 in Education, General, Health, Home, Retail

Beware of discounted diabetes medical supplies from sources you don’t know. This warning is doubly important because the cost of diabetes supplies has risen recently, forcing many seniors on a fixed income to reconsider their monthly supply costs. Rather than signing onto some new and untested supply site, we recommend that you discuss your concerns with your medical team first.

For instance, Medicare may now cover diabetic medical supplies that were previously uninsured. Also, your medical team may be able to find better deals for the supplies you already use and trust.

A further danger of discounted diabetes medical supplies is the fact that not all supplies work with all medical devices. This confusion can be missed by simply making your concerns known soon with your doctor or medical providers.

Dreaming is Nature’s Way of Looking Inward

On June 13, 2008 in Education, Health, Science

A great way to learn more about ourselves, our family, and even our culture is to look at our nightly dreams we have every night. This is a free resource that most Americans don’t even realize is at their beck and call. Dreaming is simply nature’s way of displaying what the important issues of the day are to us, as well as a window into our unique souls.

By remembering our dreams, and keeping them “alive,” we are giving forum to those slippery thoughts that usually escape our everyday life. In dreams, these thoughts are expressed through emotions, colors, and metaphors. You don’t have to be a dream interpreter to get something out of dreaming. Rather, it is available to everyone, young and old, …. if we choose to pay attention!

Derrrick Jensen Speaks about Nationalism

On June 13, 2008 in Education, Entertainment, Social

One of the harshest critics of the American consumerist way of life is Derrick Jensen. This speaker, teacher and small farmer walks the walk and talks the talk. Jensen argues that one of the strangest predicaments we are in as Americans is our identification with nationalism.

Rather than identifying with our local area, where our our water and shelter and food comes from, we instead think of ourselves as Americans, and focus attention on things like wars that really have nothing to do with us, except for our tax dollars, of course!

Watch this video in which Derrick Jensen amusingly reveals how the “emperor is naked.”

On May 22, 2008 in Arts, Education, Entertainment, Travel

The Capital has in many opinions a number of the greatest museums in the entire world in truth it has hundreds of museums & fairs both huge and little. There are stacks to elect from but for obvious reasons a small number of them are superior than others. Some of the best museums to stop at consist of the British Museum, Natural History & Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Imperial War Museum and the National Maritime Museum.

The British Museum has in recent times opened once more with a rich restoration and is commonly considered as being the greatest museum on the whole planet where over four-thousand year old Egyptian Mummies benefit from a considerably more demanding spirit world than they had anticipated. To be found in Covent Garden this is certainly one of the best museums in The City to go to. There are bags of recent collections and corridors to observe, some that comprises the reading room and the brand new African collection, which experts advertise as being the planet’s largest and most paramount in terms of choice and quality with well over 200,000 objects.

The Natural History & Science Museums are appropriate for both adolescents and grown-ups. The Natural History Museum structure is spectacular and any dinosaur devotee beyond a doubt will want to get lost in everything that belongs to history that belongs to this delightful museum.

The Science Museum is astounding, and very quick in relation of when historic breakthroughs are found. There are a team of scientists on site developing actual research in which you can be a subject of if you desire. There are numerous exhilarating hands on things to do for either youngsters & adults. Check out Time Out for all the latest London Museums opening hours.

The Victoria & Albert museum which is also more universally known as the V&A is a massive museum packed to the top with customs. It is worth an outing for the cast digs alone. The museum itself is free to go in and is the world’s biggest decorative and arts and design museum. The Imperial War Museum looks a lot at the experience of the imperial world war rather than its prosecution. Some great displays such as “The Blitz” & “The Holocaust” are quite touching.

Who Else Wants to Homeschool High Schoolers

On March 31, 2008 in Education

Homeschooling during the high school years can be a big undertaking even for experienced homeschooling parents. This is a time when many parents decide to put their children back into the hands of the public school system. This article will examine and undertaking some of the reasons why some parents stop homeschooling during the high school years.

Some parents decide to stop homeschooling once their children encounter the high school years because they worry about their children’s social evolvement. As children get older, social skills become more important. During the high school years, children grow more attached to friends and begin to cluster into various social groups. But there are many ways homeschooling parents can make sure social development does not suffer during the high school years. Begin by allowing and encouraging your child to join sport teams, social clubs, summer camps and scouting groups. These types of activities will provide them will the opportunities necessary to form social skills and foster that crucial spirit of belonging that high schoolers desire.

Homeschooling parents often teach their children all subject areas themselves. This may become a more intimidating task when it comes time to teach higher levels of math or science. If this is your concern, then you can consider hiring a tutor for any subject areas you do not feel confident about. If you’re working with a tight budget, then consider a barter arrangement, where you exchange tutoring services with another homeschooling parent. A great place to begin looking for a homeschooling barter partner is your homeschooling support group. If you aren’t already a part of one, then find one and join as soon as possible. They are an essential resource. The challenges of homeschooling will most certainly grow in size and complexity as you reach the high school years, but homeschooling parents know that no matter how large the challenges seem the benefits of homeschooling will almost always outweigh the disadvantages.

Keeping A Gun Safe Can Spare Lives

On March 11, 2008 in Education, General, Home

The common thinking in keeping guns inside a home is protection. This means to say that household owners who have guns are trying to keep safety and protection as top priorities. Even if this is the case among everyone, there is no absolute guarantee that danger can not happen. Keeping a gun safe should also be a primary concern especially if there are young kids and teens inside the house. Think about the probability of your son or daughter spotting a firearm in your room (because you failed to keep it safe). What are the chances of these young ones of playing with it? Very high (blame Hollywood). Though there are very low reports of accidental household gun shots (contrary to what we all thought) compared to car accidents, there are more ads about owning firearms and keeping it at home. It’s a good thought though because it increases parents’ awareness in keeping their children safe.

Are You Experiencing Homeschool Burnout?

On March 02, 2008 in Education

When you made the decision to homeschool your children, you decided to add on the responsibility of being a teacher on top of the responsibility you already hold as a parent. Although this is no easy task, you definitely had a long list of good reasons why you chose this lifestyle and for the most part you probably enjoy teaching your kids and holding the reigns of their education in your hands. But every homeschooling parent knows that once in a while you are bound to hit homeschool burnout.

Sometimes our life circumstances change, whether it’s a new baby, an illness or other unexpected events, and these changes create stress in our lives. The stress is bound to effect your homeschooling routine. The best thing to do is to recognize that you are going through a difficult time and accept the fact that you need a break. There is nothing wrong with taking a break from you children. In fact, most often breaks help us refresh our enthusiasm and motivation.

Sometimes, the cause of homeschool burnout is parents packing too many activities into the week. If this is the case for you, then ask your children to choose their favourite one or two activities and put the rest on hold. If you’re experiencing homeschool burnout because of other responsibilities that are demanding your attention, then get someone to take over some of the homeschool work. You can ask a family member or friend to take over a couple of subject. You can even consider hiring a tutor. Also, don’t forget your homeschool parenting group, a great resource for finding good advice and even a helping hand when you really need one.

Lucid Dreaming Research on the Rise

On February 29, 2008 in Education, General, Science, Social

In the 1980s, lucid dreaming research was a hot topic with psychologists. This interest helped fan the flames of what is now called the contemporary dream movement. Many psychologists believed that lucid dreaming could solve a lot of problems and help their clients, especially those suffering with nightmares.

Strangely enough, this interest cooled after an academic journal known as the Lucidity Letter closed its doors. However, popular interest in lucid dreaming has been growing ever since, and many advances in lucid dreaming techniques have been discovered by the lay public. This sustained popular interest eventually is rebounding back into academia, as young scholars are looking at lucid dreaming again, with fresh eyes and minds.
